Basic diagnosis

Urodynamic examination is the main such method of diagnosis. This can clarify whether the cause of the functional disorders should be sought in the urinary bladder or in the sphincter system. Essentially, it involves measuring the pressures inside the urinary bladder (cystomanometry) and the urethra (urethral pressure profile), with the urinary bladder at different degrees of filling. X-ray examinations of the urinary tract are also possible.

However, other interdisciplinary examinations, for example, by gynecologists or neurologists, may additionally be required. Specialist examinations are particularly essential as a preparation for possible surgeries, in order to make these safer and more successful.
